Plunder  1st assignment for Senior Graphic Design studio. Objective: Identify subculture and create a relevant piece of graphic design used within the group. I chose music pirates. But more specifically, music pirates who understand they are doing something wrong and are proud of it/they get a thrill by stealing. Thus, I tie music pirates back to the romantic vision of pirates (as made popular by Treasure Island, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.) My project consists of a USB-drive in the shape of a stylized parrot and is bundled with “Plunder” software, so that when the drive is connected to a computer, it can rip songs off someone’s iTunes or other music library.  In addition, I created a mark that creates unity among the music pirate subculture. In the style of the Jolly Roger, the mark subsitutes a cracked record or a skull. This logo can be made into stickers and placed around town or computers so that the music pirate’s mark is left for everyone to see.
